Two hundred people came to see Pulitzer prize winning investigative journalist, Seymour Hersh talk at the Orange County Public Library’s annual An Evening with the Author.

Hersh captivated his audience during his two-hour speech. He left no doubt in the audience’s mind on how he felt about George W. Bush. He said that we are about to end the worst presidency this nation has ever seen and “ we have to do the best we can to make the change effective.”

In his speech Hersh also covered his recent travels to the Middle East including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and Iran.

People who attended the event were amazed at how well Hersh spoke on politics and current events.

Joice Rabe from Orlando said, “He gave me courage to be vocal about my convictions.” Rollins College Professor Clay Singleton and his wife Kathy from Ocoee both agree, “It’s nice to hear from someone who has talked to all these people.” Referring to the connections that Hersh has in the military and the government.

Hersh gave his opinion on McCain’s choice of Vice President, “I think it’s an insult to the United States of America.” He says the only reason he chose Palin was because, “McCain was dead in the water.”

Caroline Ragans from Orlando said, “ I think it was the most provocative discussion in Orlando…. He brings in a broader world view than what we are usually exposed to.”
