ORLANDO, Fla. – Nutritionist Meghan Murphy Van Camp, RD, LD/N spoke to college students on choosing the right portion sizes on Oct. 7, 2008 at 4:00pm in the UCF Recreation and Wellness center.
Van Camp used visual aids to show how to prepare the right amount of foods that lead to a healthier life style.
“There is a lot of miseducation when it comes to nutrition,” says Van Camp.
This free class offered at UCF helps students find out the facts behind nutritional myths.
“I got a lot of information regarding the change in my diet,” says Myrna Ramos from Oviedo.
Van Camp says that the one simple way for a college student to eat healthier is eat five fruits and vegetables a day and do not skip breakfast.
Rafael Grullon from Orlando said “It inspired me to eat a little healthier….It reaffirmed my beliefs.”
Van Camp hosts these free health classes every Monday and Tuesday in the UCF Wellness Center Classroom. For a schedule of her classes you can go to the UCF Health Services web page.
